👉 We’d like to highlight Allan DELAY, a Development Engineer at JENOPTEC NT since 2019.

The development engineer plays a key role. As a true technical pillar, they contribute to product design and improvement, ensuring performance, reliability, and alignment with market needs. Thanks to their analytical skills and meticulous approach, they actively contribute to innovation and the quality of the solutions offered by the company.

What is your professional background?

After earning my degree in optometry, I decided to pursue a career in optical engineering. I initially worked in the field of refractive surgery, but eventually decided to explore a different sector. That’s how I joined JENOPTEC NT and discovered the fascinating world of fiber optics.

What are your responsibilities?

For the past three years at JENOPTEC NT as a development engineer, I have served as a project manager responsible for product development and characterization, with the goal of ensuring performance and reliability at every stage of the process.

Characterization encompasses all laboratory tests, whether conducted as part of a qualification process for a tender or for internal development. My role involves scheduling these tests, allocating the necessary resources (human and material), participating in their execution, and constantly seeking to optimize them, particularly through the development of appropriate tools and test benches. I am also responsible for providing all associated documentation (procedures, instructions, etc.).

The tests conducted may be climatic in nature (temperature, humidity, etc.) or mechanical (crushing, tensile, torsion, bending, etc.).

What do you like most about your job?

With a strong focus on methods and processes, I enjoy anticipating potential issues in a project and proposing concrete solutions to optimize and facilitate production work.

How would you describe yourself?

I am thorough, selfless, and positive

What drives you in life?

Outside of work, I enjoy playing sports—to push myself—and reading—to relax and broaden my horizons.

If you were a dish, you'd be...

Pasta carbonara: a simple, comforting dish.

Is there a quote that inspires you?

A movie that left a lasting impression on me: Dead Poets Society (1989), for its powerful message about freedom of thought, passion, and the courage to follow one’s own path.
